Privacy Policy
Last updated
This policy explains what information DogAgeCalculatorUSA.com (“we,” “us”) handles when you use this website, why, and the choices you have. It applies to every page on dogagecalculatorusa.com.
The short version
- The calculator runs entirely in your browser. Your dog’s age, breed, size, weight and name are not sent to us.
- We do not set cookies and we have no user accounts.
- We do not sell or share personal information for advertising.
- Like every website, our hosting provider processes basic technical data, such as your IP address, in order to deliver pages and protect the site.
What the calculator does with your input
Every calculation on this site happens on your own device, in JavaScript running in your browser. Nothing you type into the dog age, reverse or comparison calculators is submitted to a server.
So that you can bookmark or share a result, the calculator writes your current inputs into the page address. For example: /?age=7&size=large&name=Biscuit. That address stays in your browser. However, if you share the link, or open it later, the full address (including any dog name you entered) is sent to our hosting provider as part of the ordinary page request, just as any web address is. If you’d rather it wasn’t, leave the name field blank.
When you use the share button, your device’s own share sheet or clipboard is used. We do not see where you share it.
Information collected automatically
Hosting and security (Cloudflare)
This site is hosted on Cloudflare’s network. To deliver pages, prevent abuse and keep the site running, Cloudflare processes request data such as your IP address, browser type (user agent), the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. We use this information only in aggregate and for operating and securing the site. SeeCloudflare’s privacy policy.
Web fonts (Google Fonts)
Our typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. When a page loads, your browser requests the font files from Google’s servers, which means Google receives your IP address and browser information. Google states that it does not use Google Fonts requests to build advertising profiles. See theGoogle Fonts privacy FAQ.
Cookies and local storage
We do not set cookies, and we do not store anything in your browser’s local storage. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie to distinguish real visitors from automated traffic. That cookie is not used for tracking or advertising.
Analytics and advertising
We do not currently use analytics or advertising services. If we add them in the future (for example, privacy-focused traffic statistics, Google Analytics, or display advertising), we will update this policy before they go live, describe what they collect, and explain how to opt out.
When you email us
If you write tobark@dogagecalculatorusa.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it only to reply to you and to act on your request, such as correcting an error on the site. We do not add you to a mailing list.
How information is shared
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose information only:
- to service providers that run the site for us (hosting, security and email), and only for those purposes;
- when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our visitors or ourselves; or
- as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the website, in which case this policy continues to apply.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, including California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut and other US states with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. Because we don’t sell or share personal information, there is nothing to opt out of. You can still make any request by emailingbark@dogagecalculatorusa.com. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Visitors from the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom have similar rights under the GDPR, including the right to object and to complain to a data protection authority. Our legal basis for the limited processing described here is our legitimate interest in operating a secure website, or your consent when you choose to email us.
Children
This site is a general-audience educational resource and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Retention and security
We keep emails only as long as needed to handle your request. Hosting and security logs are kept for the limited periods Cloudflare uses for operating its network. All pages are served over encrypted HTTPS connections.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, such as adding analytics or advertising, we will update this page before that change takes effect.
